The hunt for last-minute gifts can lead to interesting places

Still searching for something special for the true blue Ohioan on your list? Want to give something with a little local flavor rather than mass-produced blandness? Check out Shop Talk's picks for gifts that say I love you or, at least, I love Ohio:

Uniquely Ohio:

This charming boutique in Hudson's First & Main shopping district offers one-stop shopping for all things Ohio, from glassworks, paintings, photography and pottery by local artists to gift baskets with locally grown and produced jams, jellies, candies and other foods; Ohio-made jewelry and candles; and a huge selection of team garb from Ohio college and pro teams, including that little team down in Columbus. 103 First St., Hudson.

Artful choices from CMA:

The Cleveland Museum of Art still may be closed, but at least the store is open (why show art when you can sell reproductions, right?). So, help the art lover on your list fill the void with a pick from the institution's shop, from a book or piece of jewelry celebrating current exhibit "Barcelona & Modernity" (which is open) to posters from the collection, stationery, home decor, CMA logo wear and more.

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo calendar:

Surprise the animal lover on your list with the wall calendar commemorating the zoo's 125th anniversary, complete with historic snapshots and new portraits of some of today's most popular zoo residents, including the African elephant, Masai giraffe and western lowland gorilla. Just $4.95 at the zoo's Machaba Curios gift shop. The calendar also highlights memorable zoo events, from the 1936 opening of Monkey Island to the arrival of the first bear in 1894. While at the store, browse the unique selection of animal toys and other gift items.

Anything from the Stan Hywet Museum Store:

Celebrate one of the most beautiful historic homes in Northeast Ohio with a selection from the Carriage House museum gift store. Top picks include Steve Love's "Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens" photo coffee book, a CD of organ music recorded on the mansion's grand Aeolian organ, and new Stan Hywet stained-glass ornaments. 714 North Portage Path, Akron. Admission is not required for gift-shop entrance.
